Summary: This study seeks to investigate textual elements that indicate contextual traces of the au
thorship of A Demanda do Santo Graal, a chivalric novel belonging to the Pseudo-Boron
cycle, based on the attribution of the genre exemplum to a style of authority (Curtius,
2013, p. 88). It aims to highlight how certain passages frequently found in the fifteenth
century manuscript allude both to foundational texts and to works of uncertain or fictional
existence as part of a project of self-legitimation, supported by persuasive elements drawn
from distinct traditions, shaping the novel under the sign of an ambiguity that enriches it
as a literary monument and places it in a position of prominence in the history of medieval
literature.
