Summary: The Troiana Chronicle, a fourteenth-century work, is part of the Classic Cycle of medieval prose and
recovers Antiquity to use it as time and space, resuming its precepts
social, poetic and rhetorical. In this work, it was of interest to us to investigate the rescue of
tradition shown in the literary text, as well as examining the permanence and modification
of these classical elements in the Middle Ages. To check in which ways these echoes are
present, we use references typical of ancient and medieval rhetoric and poetics,
considering, above all, the analysis of the epideictic genre in the key of praise, since
praise is significantly inserted in the narrative and in different ways. to analyze
these eulogizing episodes, we restricted the study to the passages that deal with death, that is,
from the moment it happens until the funeral, considering the eulogies, aiming
observe in what way(s) the praise is used to corroborate the importance that
the deceased had in life and what stands out after the end of it.
