Summary: This work analyses the female characters in the book Sapato de Salto from the Brazilian author LygiaBojunga and, through the fashion elements on their feet, searches to point out how these artifacts, many times imposed to the women, are presented in the plot. The author and other female authors, who, in a special way produce childrens literature, question in their narratives the values defended by the patriarchal society providing young readers with space to revise their beliefs and attitudes which are reflected in the physical appearance of both men and women. She uses in the gender analysis the theoretical contribution of studies such as those of Guacira Lopes Louro, because it puts aside the dichotomic thinking schemes and thinks in terms of plurality and diversities, as well as opposes to essentialist approaches. The reflection on fashion is partial to the researches of Diana Crane, Gilles Lipovetsky, Linda OKeeffe and Rachelle Bergstein.
Key-words: Sapato de salto-female characters. Gender-Attitudes and fashion. Childrensliterature.
